# What is IFTA?

The International Fuel Tax Agreement for reporting fuel tax across jurisdictions.

IFTA lets carriers operating qualified motor vehicles in more than one jurisdiction file a single quarterly fuel tax return with their base jurisdiction.

The return reports miles and fuel by jurisdiction. The base jurisdiction collects the net tax and distributes it to the other members.
