# What is Clearinghouse?

FMCSA's Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse database of CDL driver violations.

The Clearinghouse records drug and alcohol program violations for CDL drivers. Employers must run a full query before hiring and a limited query at least once a year for each CDL driver.

Drivers with a violation cannot perform safety-sensitive functions until they complete the return-to-duty process.
